Dr. Alan Stern to Join KinetX Aerospace Board of Directors

TEMPE, Arizona, June 21, 2021 ─ KinetX Aerospace is pleased to announce and welcome Dr. Alan Stern to the Board of Directors for 2021. Dr. Stern is an accomplished planetary scientist, space program leader, and visionary explorer. He is the leader of NASA’s New Horizons mission to Pluto and the Kuiper Belt, a mission navigated by KinetX since it launched in 2006.  Dr. Stern brings a wealth of knowledge and experience from both government and commercial aerospace institutions, including NASA, Southwest Research Institute (SWRI), and the Commercial Spaceflight Federation. He serves on the US National Science Board and was formerly the head of the Science Mission Directorate at NASA HQ.  In 2022, he will be the first researcher to fly on a commercial suborbital mission aboard Virgin Galactic’s SpaceShip2.

“My vision for KinetX is to grow and diversify across civil, commercial, and national security space use cases” says Stern. Bringing in an external member to the board comes with benefits, “I’m looking very much forward to proving the wisdom of selecting KinetX’s first external board member. But even more so, I’m looking forward to bringing my experience base into KinetX, particularly in executive positions at NASA and in the newspace commercial space industry”, says Dr. Stern.  Bobby Williams, Chairman of the Board and Director of KinetX’s Space Navigation and Flight Dynamics Practice says, “We are proud to have Dr. Stern as an integral part of the KinetX vision team that will guide our corporate course for 2021 and beyond”.
