KinetX Aerospace is involved in several ongoing programs, including high-visibility initiatives such as IRIDIUM, GPS III, and MUOS.

IRIDIUM Constellation Support

Low Earth Orbit Networked Constellation
  • A Low Earth Orbit networked satellite constellation, providing an unique global communications service
  • KinetX Aerospace a key contributor since 1993 – longer than any other contractor!
  • Supported with Orbit Analysis, Mission Planning, Communications Resource Allocation, Launch Support, Software Engineering
  • KinetX Aerospace Orbit Dynamics efforts:
    • Developed requirements for Orbit Dynamics ground software
    • Led Orbit Services trade study and vendor selection
    • Developed Orbit Dynamics software for gateway
    • Performed early orbit operations
    • Developed requirements for Orbit Dynamics ground software
    • Developed, implemented, and executed test for ground antennas from aircraft
    • Assisted in the automation of Orbit Dynamics operational software
    • Assisted in finding and fixing errors in Orbit Dynamics code for both ground system and flight software
    • Conducted anomaly resolution, including station-keeping methodology, solar radiation pressure and drag environment modeling, collision prediction and avoidance modeling
    • Performed launch services and support

GPS III Proposal Support

Low Earth Orbit networked satellite constellation
KinetX Aerospace became involved with the GPS III Proposal effort through an OCX PRDA contract:
  • Investigated feasibility of navigation mission planning requirements
    • Thoroughly examined GOMA documentation and provided feedback to the government
    • Evaluated feasibility of stated accuracy levels for the PVT solution
    • Evaluated comments of current system operators
  • Researched current navigational software
  • Performed an extensive trade study of potential orbit software tools and suppliers
  • Developed categories of improvements for GPS II+ and GPS III
  • Conducted initial investigations (KinetX Aerospace IRAD)
    • Received a collection of field measurements from 11 NGA monitoring stations for 6 days
    • Measurement set included time stamped psuedo-range, carrier phase, signal strength, and doppler for both L1 and L2 frequencies
    • Processed measurement set; were already meeting new required accuracies
    • Developed an extensive list of improvements to both the Navigation Mission Planning Subsystem (for both Block II+ and Block III) as well as for the overall GPS III system

MUOS (Mobile User Objective System) Support

MUOS Satellite
  • MUOS Program headed by US Navy’s SPAWAR
  • Being developed as a replacement to UFO constellation, for the mobile user-on-the-move
  • Provides global SATCOM narrowband (64kpbs and below) connectivity for voice, video and data for US and Allied forces
  • Performed an extensive trade study of potential orbit software tools and suppliers
  • Projected to be a network of DOD-controlled satellites and associated ground facilities
  • Development of the MUOS ground control segment led by General Dynamics with KinetX Aerospace support since Oct 2004
    • Received a collection of field measurements from 11 NGA monitoring stations for 6 days
    • Measurement set included time stamped psuedo-range, carrier phase, signal strength, and doppler for both L1 and L2 frequencies
    • Processed measurement set; were already meeting new required accuracies
  • Features a distributed, government-controlled, priority based resource management system responsive to commanders’ requirements
